Hartwick Pines State Park
In 1952, a small chapel was constructed in honor of Mr. Donald A. Johnson, the first President of Kiwanis International now known as the Chapel in the Pines. Construction was with hand tools and wood pegs were used in place of nails wherever possible. The Chapel was funded by an anonymous donor. The hand-craved prayer was composed by the donor to exemplify the significance of this virgin pine forest. Hartwick Pines State Park is rich in scenic beauty. It is a 49 acre forest of Old Growth Pines. Foot trails allow access to points of interest in the park. Almost any place along the trial would be an ideal setting for a wedding ceremony.
