Camp Grayling Range Firing Schedule (July 21–27, 2019)

RANGE FIRING SCHEDULE FOR THE PERIOD OF July 21st – 27th, 2019          

GRAYLING, Mich. – Northern Strike 2019 will be in full swing during this timeframe.  Our training areas and ranges will continue to have lots of unit activity during this period.  Residents in and around the area of our small arms ranges south of Camp Grayling will hear small arms firing, with small explosions from time to time this week.

The Grayling Army Airfield will also be very busy.  From time to time very large C-130 fixed wing aircraft will be landing and taking off.  There are nine scheduled departures and landings beginning tomorrow, July 16th, 2019 until July 29th, 2019.

The training will continue out at Camp Grayling’s Multi-Purpose Range Complex also known as the Range 30 complex, located north of North Down River Road, east of Jones Lake Road, south of County Road 612 and west of Bald Hill Truck Trail.  Residents who live out that way will continue to hear machine gun fire and explosions.  All roads and trails west of Wakeley Bridge road, to include; Bucks East-West Truck Trail from Jones Lake Road to Wakeley Bridge Road, Ketchum truck Trail from Bucks East-West to North Down River Road, and Stephen Bridge Road from County Road 612 to North Down River Road will be closed to civilian traffic.  The gates will continue to be closed for the majority part of July.  Please respect all closed gates and do not enter these areas for your safety.  If you feel a gate is closed in error, please call Camp Grayling Headquarters at (989)344-6100 to verify the closure of the gate.  At each gate there will be a notice posted of when the gate was closed and a date when the gate will be re-opened.

A-10’s and Artillery fire will continue out at Camp Grayling’s Range 40 Complex, also known as the Air to Ground range.  Range 40 is located north of County Road 612, east of Guthrie Lake, south of Old State Road 618 and west of County Road F97 (Twin Bridge Road).  Residents in and around the area will see or hear numerous types of aircraft during this entire timeframe.  The Air Force will begin dropping 500 lb. bombs (24JUL2019-26JUL2019) and August 1-2 for alternate dates.  The artillery fire will also be sporadic throughout the next few weeks of July.
