Stayin’ Alive – 4-H Summer Day Camp
August 14 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, repeating until August 14, 2019
I’m excited to tell you about our summer day camp planned for August! Roscommon and Crawford counties are teaming up to bring 3 days of day-camp fun for youth 8-14 years of age. We will be running the camp twice; once for 8-10 year olds (Aug 5-7) and again for 11-14 year olds (Aug 12-14) from 9am – 4 pm.
Did you hear about the young sisters in California who recently survived for nearly 48 hours after getting lost in the woods? They attributed their survival to skills they learned in 4-H. We were so inspired by their experience we decided to spend the morning of camp learning all about outdoor survival. From making a fire to seeking shelter and so much in between, the campers will learn what to do if they are ever lost outdoors. We’ll be having an awesome outdoor survival scavenger hunt to test their new knowledge in a safe and fun way!
Our afternoons are still going to be about survival, but from a different angle. We’ll be learning all about bees and how their role as a pollinator is vital to our survival. We will be doing a ton of fun hands-on learning activities ranging from how bees pollinate to building a beehive to take home.
One of the most exciting parts about this camp is that we are offering it for FREE due to generous contributions from Crawford Partnership for Substance abuse Prevention, Family Fare (they’re providing lunch!), Hanson Hills, Gahagan Nature Preserve and MSU Extension. Space is limited though, so you’ll want to register your child(ren) ASAP. Registration is now open here:
