Kirtland holds computer classes in Mio & Grayling

Kirtland Community College will be offering one-day computer classes in both Mio and Grayling, with each class costing students just $10 per session. The classes, which start March 9 in Mio, are part of the college’s Continuing Education program.

Crawford County Baby Closet is open monthly on the first and third Thursday of the month. It will be open Mar.4 and Mar 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Located at Michelson Memorial United Church, 400 Michigan Ave., Grayling. If you would like to make any donations, money or commodities to the Baby Closet, they can be dropped off the days they are open or at the Church’s office between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. through 11 a.m. At present they are in need of boys 3 toddler clothes, shoes or boots size 8 through 9. Tax Return can help Shelter Animals!

For the second year, H&R Block has invited the Animal Shelter of Crawford County (doing business as AuSable Valley Animal Shelter) to be a recipient in its corporate charitable giving program. In 2009, the shelter received $1,200 from H&R Block to help feed & care for all the dogs & cats at the shelter. It was a great surprise!

Please stop by the Grayling Chamber of Commerce or AuSable Valley Animal Shelter to pick up your coupon!! These coupons can be used at ANY H&R Block office ANYWHERE in the USA!! Free Tax Assistance Available

The Crawford County Commission on Aging along with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) are sponsoring free personal income tax assistance for low & moderate income taxpayers, with special attention to those 60 & older. Volunteers are trained to assist in filing tax forms & basic schedules, including the 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ.  Appointments will be available at the Grayling Senior Center located at 308 Lawndale St., Grayling. An appointment is required and can be made by calling (989) 348-7123.  Volunteers will also be available to assist in filing the Michigan Homestead Tax Credit & the Michigan Home Heating Credit.
